1.Do you use the Japanese language or culture in your curriculum?

Yes, we use both Japanese and culture in our curriculum, however, English is the primary language. Our students are exposed to Japanese in interesting ways such as through songs, books, drama and craft. We also enjoy learning about other languages and cultures, particularly the cultures of the children attending our school.

2.Do you have after school classes at PAL?

Yes, we have after school classes at PAL. The style and content changes from school year to school year. Information about our current after-school programs is available from our administration office.

3.Do you go to the playground every day?

Yes, weather permitting we go to the playground every day. Our school is conveniently located within walking distance of 3 parks equipped with slides, swings, climbing equipment and sand-pits.

4.What nationalities do you accept at PAL?

We welcome children from any nation or cultural background.

5.Do you have nap time at PAL?

We don't have a specific time for naps, however, whenever a child needs to sleep, we will make a quiet comfortable bed for him/her to rest.

6.Do you toilet train the children?

All of the children are asked and taken to the bathroom during the school day. When individual children are ready to be trained the teachers will help them achieve this goal.

7.Do you have extended hours?

Yes, we do. We offer afternoon classes and extended hours for all of our students, up until 5pm.

8.What do you do in the case of an emergency such as an earthquake?

We perform frequent emergency drills. This ensures that all children are familiar with the procedure and are aware of how to safty exit the building and go to a secure area until an emergency is over.

9.How do you discipline children?

With our excellent student/teacher ratio, we can usually discipline children by talking and discussing with them consequences of the situation. Of course, there is no physical punishment at our school.

10.Do you introduce reading and writing at your school?

In our daily activities, we introduce language arts. We strive to reinforce all the skills needed for beginning readers. We expose them to problem solving skills and encourage logical thinking. We ask them to observe and express themselves in drawing and writing. We always work with the children at their own level; our goal is to ensure that each child develops as an independent and confident learner.

11.Do you have parent/teacher conferences?

Yes, at certain times during the school year, we schedule conferences, however, you may request to speak with our teachers at any time during the school year.

12.Do you issue progress reports?

Yes, our school issues reports for all students, with the exception of our Rockin Horse class children.
